Art RockX! Las Vegas

January 18, 2011

It started when Chicago artist Diana Arand’s art work arrived at the MySoire offices, so we could set it up at the show in Las Vegas. She could not make the trek to Las Vegas but her Art did. Dj Lamont Young, our roadie Othmane, and artist Mariya Milodova piled into the MySoiree bus and started on the journey to Vegas. In the meantime Chris Haberman hopped on a plane in Seattle, his painting partner Jennifer Mercedes left her Florida holiday for LV. The energetic non stop twins Nicole and Roxanne drove like fiends from San Diego to LV, Shana Calano and her poker star husband were already celebrating it up in Vegas. Chelsea recently relocated from Seattle to Santa Barbara packed her car the night before with easels for all, and set her alarm to wake in the wee hours for the journey. Michele Rohac and her husband got an early start from LA, and picked up the family who flew in for the show. In the meantime the Las Vegas artists, Alex Kossoff, Jon De Lasalle, and Jennifer Main were putting finishing touches on their art work. While the artists were traveling the voting began from their fans. It seemed like magic that brought all of these talented artists together. As the Downtown Cocktail Lounge was transformed into an art oasis, DJ Lamont set the tone with his original sound, and as I introduced each of the artists on stage it was obvious we had something pretty special, and then it seemed a creative energy wave swept in and as I looked about our guests were treated to a site of explosive creative energy as our MySoiree artists took to their canvases and to showing their work to buyers. The phone lines were lighting up and facebook page filled with well wishes. By 11pm the voting reduced the field to 3, Sexy and sweet Shana Calano whose mosaic style work will add style to your home, elegant Michele Rohac of LA whose calming sea critters and sunsets will bring beauty to your world, and the dynamic rad team of Jennifer Mercedes and Chris Haberman are dedicated to art love and fun! With only an hour left to the show the artists painted, sketched, scratched, spilled, swore, laughed, cried, and carried on MySoiree style. At midnight the live audience hooted and hollered for their favorite as we were down to the three. The crowd favorite and vote getters were Portland’s Jennifer Mercede and Chris Haberman who won the opportunity to tour with Art RockX! in 2011, Pop Chips for a year, Michele Rohac is the alternate, and Shana Calano takes over the spot if our winners can’t. All the participating artists received  gift bags from Blick Art Materials. Thank you to all the artists and the sacrifices you make to be artists we thank you for everything.

Holiday Thanks

MySoiree is so touched to have the most talented and amazing artists on our MySoiree.net community. It was two years ago, when myself Angela and Christine started our letter writing campaign to tell artists around the world that we were going to be open for business in a few weeks. Well, we’ve made 1000 more artist friends since then, brought our MySoiree artists work to customers around the world, and covered more miles across the country this year. Taking our show on the road has been the most inspirational experience and enabled us to meet our artists and our artists to meet us. We are excited to the future, and in the very near future, with our national show in Las Vegas on Jan 5th at the Downtown Cocktail Lounge. Be sure to RSVP for your tix here . We’ve got an amazing line up, of artists coming together, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, LA, San Diego, Chicago (we’ve got our fingers crossed), Phoenix ( Aztec and Bradley it won’t be the same without you, we need you there!), and new celebrity artists from Las Vegas. Here’s some photo recap of our winning artists from San Diego.

Be the Change you Wish To See in the World

July 2, 2010

The winner from our Seattle 2010 North American Mysoiree.net Art Tour, Chelsea Willet, created this work of art tonight, and it feels like the kinds of words the world should hear.  Mysoiree.net is doing our part to be the change evangelists for the art world.  In a few weeks I’m headed to LA to pitch our reality show, ” Art Rocks” based on our current show traveling about the country.  The show is about providing a platform for artists to be recognized in the mainstream,  so the Mysoiree winners become household names, and establish the idea that todays artists and especially those on Mysoiree.net  creating, and producing, need to be celebrated and uplifted.

Great Art from Happy Happy California Artists

May 24, 2010

On Wed., May 20th, 8 artists from the Silicon Valley came together, and lit up the Pearl Night Club with their energy and their art.  Our winning celebrity artist who will represent Silicon Valley at the National Show in Las Vegas is  Mariya Milovidova, whose goal is to create art that everyone can enjoy, and San Jose loved her art including a dress fashioned of flu masks, body paintings, and canvas works.  The runner up was Derty Kevin, who instills the impulse of a graffiti artist into his professional commercial artist work today.  Nick Giannini, was the true performing visual artist of the night, as the crowd was mesmerized by his live work.  The hottest artist on the scene was Armo Art, with his ambitious goal to have his work displayed in largest open spaces possible, and he’s making it a reality with his art to be displayed on the Freemont Street Experience in Las Vegas.  The artist who traveled the furthest, and brought the most color, is professional and registered Mariana Island Artist, Marconi Calindo.

Ilana Davis is living the dream, at the age of seven she decided that working with clay made her happy, and she has fullfilled her dream with her amazing works of art.  The most traveled celebrity artist is Josh Edelson, his goal is to be able to travel the world photographing every step of the way.   Steve Rodgers rounds out our celebrity artists of the evening and although only his butterfly work of art, would be described as happy, the autobiographical paintings of gang members he recalls from his childhood growing up in the Jordon Downs in LA, provide the stark contrast to happy art.

Portland’s all about Heart

May 8, 2010

DJ Lamont Young and I were welcomed into the city of Portland by its talented artists who have the biggest hearts.   The city of Portland poured out to come to  Aura in Portland’s Pearl district, each artist was surrounded by their entourage of family and friends whether in person or virtually, DJ Lamont Young playing cutting edge music for the house to hear.  The 2010 North American Mysoiree.net Art Tour is about sharing with the city not just the artwork from an artist but what it took for them to create it.  In Portland, Artist Colleen Patricia Williams stubborn spirit has allowed her to not just persevere after a horrific accident, but to be energized by it, and pour her pain and positiveness into her autobiographical work.  Noah Cole, the winner to represent Portland if Jennifer and Chris are unable to make it, he serves his country in the US Air Force, and through his photography brought back the images and scenes he experienced in his travels through Germany and Austria a stark contrast from the combat zones of Iraq. Jason Laney, he’s a fire loving history maker, who uses his favorite medium, flame, to create functional one of a kind pottery. Marc Opek loves the Northwest, and his family and friends too. His humorous and quirky nature are in sharp contrast to the focused and dedicated artist he is.  Shelley Loring a beautiful person both on the inside and out, she shares her gift by creating jewelry that makes others just as stunning.  Ans Ellis I described her as a movie star on stage, and she politely said, movie model maker, and I said yes, she’s a movie star because her models have made the movies, “Titanic” and “Batman”, but it’s her 2D artwork that can be the star in your home.  Ashley Best, so understated, talking about the need for resourcefulness as a starving artist and firing his pottery in scrap barrels and garbage cans, but his final work is anything that depicts that scrappy edge, it is transformed into the finest works of art. Last but not least are Portland’s favorite artists, the team of Jennifer Mercede and Chris Haberman. Selected by Portland to represent Portland at the National show in Las Vegas. When Jennifer and Chris paint together its like thunder and lightening but the end result is like pot of gold under a rainbow.  Just watching the transformation of a blank canvas to a complicated Kodachrome of color to a finished work, is unbelievable.  Lastly thank you to our sponsor Pop Chips and Jorge Delights, and all the people who make the Mysoiree.net tour fantastic, special thanks to Caroline Lewis, Roderick from Aura,  and Joshua Diaz from Motion Mechanics. You can see the transformation of the canvas and all of the photos from the show on our facebook page at this link Mysoiree.net.

Celebrity Artists Take the Stage

February 28, 2010

It was an amazing vibe created by the energy of the celebrity artists, DJ Lamont, and the amazing video show of MotionMechanics, who meshed together the artwork from the Mysoiree website into a technocolor explosion on the big screen.  The city of San Francisco  embraced the experience of a Soirée all 400 of the attendees and the staff of 40 plus volunteers.  With the paparrazzi out in full swing as well it was a hollywood night for everyone.  Not only was it entertainment for the guests, but an opportunity for Mysoiree Celebrity artists to sell their works or art,   Our San Francisco celebrity artist who goes by simOn Salas quoted afterward,  “I had some potential buyers before, but after I was on stage and I got back to my booth, they started pouring in. I asked and/or was told by everyone that came up to me that seeing my art projected on the stage is what drove them to come talk to me.”
